STCC & Westcoastracing

Westcoastracing-teamet (STCC) gillade det som Håkan (Sweracing) med inhyrda resurser gjorde i form av web-TV åt dem nu på senaste STCC-tävlingen på Mantorp. De vill nu ha hjälp av oss (Sweracing) under resterande delen av säsongen, vilket ju givetvis är jättekul!

Ferrari-frossa i samband med 60-årsfirandet

Ferrari fyller 60 år i år och idag i stockholm var det rejäl Ferrari-fest med massor av bilar från det ärofyllda märket. Firandet av den illröda 60-åringen började i Abu Dhabi redan den 28 januari och slutar på banan i Maranello i Italien samtidigt som Sverige firar midsommar. Idag rullade ett 60-tal svenska Ferrari genom Stockholm och samlades på Slottsbacken mitt i hjärtat av Gamla stan i Stockholm.

The new X5 showed a bit early in Sweden

En av de första BMW X5orna i sverige? Säkert avlämnad inatt och sedan ställd där för att tidigt måndag morgon gömmas undan inför den stora lanseringen och "premiärvisningen" den 24e mars. Var nog inte riktigt meningen att den skulle stå ute såhär som den gjorde. Den är riktigt snygg även i verkligheten iallafall tycker jag! Bedöm själva:

Ferrarimobil från Motorola

Nu har Ferrari gjort en makeover på Motorolas MotoRAZR MAXX. På utsidan hittar vi den berömda loggan, inuti finns en laddning bilder på läckra bilar av samma märke. Dessutom finns motorljudet från en varvande F430 att använda som ringsignal (en telefon för snabba samtal).

I övrigt har MAXX 3G, 2-megapixelkamera, VGA-kamera för videosamtal, microSD-kort, blåtand och USB 2.0. Telefonen kommer med 50 MB minne plus ett läderfodral för förvaring.

Spyshots: BMW X1 SUV

Here’s another rendering of BMW’s upcoming small SUV for the café strip. Based on the 1-series’ underpinnings, it will feature several four cylinder and six cylinder engines. Though not due until 2010 we already have some significant details. The X-drive 4WD system will be lifted directly from the X3 SUV with drivetrains and electronics coming from the 1-series.

BMW plans to keep weight down. Its target is 1535kg, which is 200kg less than X3. Engine options will range from a 145hp 1.8L petrol to the range topping 3L diesel. Transmission will include a conventional six-speed as well an optional six-speed self shifter. New technologies and safety features will include update stability control, HDC hill descent control and DBC dynamic brake force distribution programs, and maybe even expect niceties such as Active steering and Dynamic Drive.

Production numbers are expected to be around the 100,000 mark with work outsourced to the Magna-Steyr factory near Graz. The vehicle will be priced higher than the 1-series, starting around €30,000.

BMW M5 Touring Video

Here’s a great video of BMW’s new M5 Touring doing what an M5 does best. The footage of the performance wagon eating up a winding road is nice but the scintillating sound of the 5.0L V10 is nothing short of amazing.

Volvo XC60 concept video

The powertrain for the XC60 Concept is using the same six-cylinder, in-line petrol engine that was introduced in the new Volvo S80 in 2006. The engine has been optimised for E85 (85 percent bio ethanol, 15 percent gasoline). This gives 265 horsepower and 251 lb-ft (340 Nm) of torque and acceleration from 0-60 mph in 8.2 seconds. Top speed is approximately 143 mph (228 km/h).

Help Geely Out - Design Them A New Logo!

It seems Chinese car maker Geely has a paranoia complex about its perfectly fine logo, like the girlfriend that constantly asks ‘Do I look good in this?’ Geely Autos is holding a competition for designers all over the world to help it design a new logo, the criteria for the new logo is that should symbolically representative, artistic, as well as being practical and being able to embody the corporate concept and spirit of Geely Holding group. However, we at China Car Times believe that Geely should forget the logo, leave it as it is we say, instead they should work on their new slogan for 2007, which is ‘Beyond_the value‘ yes, that is an under_score. Oh, Geely is throwing down a 3.6 million RMB cash prize (thats about $461,000USD) for the winning logo.

BMW lanserar 135i med dubbelturbo

I samband med att nya faceliftade 1-serien presenterades börjar man nu även prata om att nya 1an kommer i värstingversion med motorn från 335i, dvs dubbelturboförsedd 6a som levererar 306 hk. Kika gärna på faceliften på denna film

Troligtvis visas denna best på Frankfurtmässan i höst och bilen finns som 2008 års modell i sverige.

Konkurrenterna månde bäva och det gör att vi framöver kanske får se både en Audi RS3 och en Volvo C30 R?

Nya BMW 1-serie

Här är den uppdaterade BMW 1-serien. Förutom effektivare och snålare motorer är den stora nyheten att märkets minsting nu finns i tredörrarsutförande.

Grillen har växt, strålkastarna har fått nytt stuk och den nya frontspoilern bjuder på ett större luftintag. Bakre stötfångaren har fått renare form och baklamporna har försetts med lysdioder.
Största nyheten är att 1-serien nu finns i tredörrarsutförande. Sidodörrarnas rutor saknar ramar, som på en äkta coupé. Tredörrarsmodellen går att beställa som fyrsitsig, mittenplatsen bak ersätts då av ett förvaringsfack.
BMW har ansträngt sig för att sänka förbrukningen för flera motorer. Högtrycksdirektinsprutning, bromsenergiåtervinning och en start/stopp-funktion är tre av de bidragande faktorerna.
Motoravstängningen finns till fyrcylindriga motorer med manuell låda. När bilen står still och föraren lägger i neutral och släpper upp kopplingen stängs motorn av. Så fort kopplingen trycks ned igen går motorn igång. Start/stopp aktiveras inte om det är kallare än +3 grader eller varmare än +36 grader utanför bilen, ej heller om kupétemperaturen inte nått önskad nivå eller om batteriet är dåligt laddat.
För att kunna köra så snålt som möjligt har föraren nu hjälp av en växlingsindikator och de fyrcylindriga motorerna har fått bredare spann för lean-burn (optimal) förbränning.
Nya 120i har 170 hästkrafter (+20 hk) men den genomsnittliga förbrukningen är bara 0,64 l/mil. En sänkning med 14 procent.
118i ger numera 143 hk (+14 hk) samtidigt som snittförbrukningen har sänkts med 19 procent, till 0,59 l/mil.
Värt att notera är att den svagaste motorn, 116i, har oförändrad effekt på 115 hästkrafter. Snittförbrukningen är dock högst av de fyrcylindriga motorerna – 0,75 l/mil!
Värstingen 130i rullar på i oförändrat skick, dieslarna 120d och 118d har blivit starkare och snålare.
Sexväxlad manuell låda är standard oavsett motor, sexväxlad automat är tillval till samtliga. Bland de nya tillvalen utmärker sig aktiv styrning och USB-port som komplement till AUX-ingången.
Priserna har gått upp 2 000-10 000 kronor, tredörrarsmodellerna är 7 000 kronor billigare än motsvarande femdörrarsmodell. 116i finns inte med tre dörrar. Nya 1-serien lanseras den 24 mars

Hamann does up the Ferrari 599 GTB

Hamann, the tuner of all manner of exotica, has gotten their grubby little paws on Ferrari's finest grand tourer, the 599 GTB.

To begin with, the Hamann treatment does not augment the engine, exhaust or suspension in any way, instead leaving the 600+ HP, V12 to do its job as Ferrari's engineers saw fit.

Hamann opted to focus their attention on the 599's bodywork, adding a chin spoiler, extending the side skirts and tacking on a new rear diffuser. Although down force is rarely a problem with Marnello motorcars, Hamann added a duo of wings: one gracing the edge of the bumper, while another sits atop the rear window.

Naturally, wheel choice is where the tuner excels and in the case of the 599, 21-inch wheels are fitted at all four corners, with 245 tires up front and 345s in the rear.

If you've got the coin, you could certainly do worse, but we think the 599 GTB speaks for itself quite well, right from the factory.

Acer Ferrari 1005WTMi

Acer has released it's new laptop to add to it's already impressive line-up of the Acer Ferrari range. This time it is a 12.1inch TFT WXGA display notebook, with a powerful AMD Turion 64 X2 TL-60 proc., ATI Radeon X1140 graphics card. One of the striking features of the laptop is the attached 1.3Megapixel camera for Video calls and other video conferencing facilities.

The Acer Ferrari 1005WTMi laptop comes with Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g, and Bluetooth too. Also has an Infrared port with a VGA out for connecting to your TV. The top rig has a 160GB harddisk, and 2GB DDR2 Speicher RAM. The video memory of the graphics card comes in 512Mb (maximum).

Audi R8

We won't get to see the Audi R8 running around in real life until springtime 2007 when the car is launched, but luckily some squatters on the look for prototypes lapping the famous Nurburgring in Germany caught the car doing hot laps while testing. If a picture's worth a thousand words, this video leaves nothing left to be written in anticipation of Audi's ultimate mid-engine road warrior. The slightly detuned V10 sourced from the Lamborghini Gallardo sounds sonorous as the driver blips the throttle while downshifting in turns. Along with the 450-hp V10 from the Gallardo, the R8 will share many mechanicals with its Italian cousin, as well. It's name is culled from the R8 Le Mans racer in order to emphasize its performance potential, while the R8's shape is a faithful reproduction of the Le Mans Quattro concept car first shown at the 2003 Frankfurt Motor Show. ...
